Pyrenees Shire Council were looking to create a larger, customised inclusive playspace in the township of Avoca. This design draws upon the setting in the central median of the main street to connect community facilities and refresh the civic space around the existing picnic and barbecue area. The design will sit with a new custom designed shelter and external fence (with art panels), providing children in the town and beyond with more sensory and landscaped opportunities for play. The playspace is focused around sand and water play areas and plenty of physical play opportunities as well. The playspace includes features such as wider paths and entries, rubber pads to the next swing and trampolines, and wide, open surfaces to the water play area and an apron and accessible deck to the sandplay.
