Kunyung Pre-School, Mount Eliza

Kunyung Pre-School were looking for a redesign of their existing play area that was in keeping with their natural setting that provided more nature play, smaller spaces for play and greater accessibility into the centre and around the play area. The intent is that this masterplan will provide the basis for funding applications, in particular the Victorian State Government ‘Inclusive Kindergartens’ Grant.

The design involves the realignment of the entry and pathway to make entry into both centre and play area accessible. The creation of a custom designed new fort structure re-using the existing play fixtures and introducing a new double slide. Under deck spaces have been created with synthetic rubber access paths to them and into the swings. The current creek bed is to be formalised and stage deck seat rotated and modified. The existing cubby is to have a new verandah added and additional natural play fixtures are to be added in. The path is to create both access and a circuit path for bikes and wheeled toys. The existing raised planter beds are to stay in their current location and a new digging patch to be built at entry. Provision for a new open pergola to grow climbers over to create a green environment has been made for future planning.
