Risk Benefit Assessment Guide for Australia

Play Australia has commissioned Bricolage Design to write a guide for local government and education on the benefits of risk in play, the design of playspaces and how to manage these effectively within the public realm. This will be along similar lines to Play England’s ‘Managing Risk In Play Provision – Implementation Guide’ which was released originally in 2008 and will talk about the benefits of risk in play, clarify the terminology around the terms ‘safety’, ‘risk’, ‘hazard’ and ‘harm’ and present local case studies where good examples of how this is being managed effectively in Australia are cited.

The document is due to be released in conjunction with the new Australian Standards for Playground Equipment in 2014.
